Rachel Steward

Run by Rachel Steward, Wild Play and Education are well placed to support you in developing and delivering your people focused heritage project.  

With nearly two decades of experience of enhancing visitor experience, audience focused interpretation projects, delivering community engagement, environmental education and outdoor learning to all ages ranges from birth to adults.

Extensive experience managing large scale people focused projects, from development phase through to project completion.  Community led consultation and volunteer engagement expertise. Alongside activity and interpretation planning to help maximise the people focus of a project are particular specialities.

With a background in teaching within school grounds, local nature reserves with or without visitor centres.  Successfully running Wild Play preschools groups alongside the provision of professional training programmes for NVQ and degree students and child care professionals.  A youth specialist with experience teaching secondary age young people alongside delivering informal youth work.

A skilled deliverer and communicator with extensive public speaking, teaching and training experience for all ages, dealing with parents, teachers, head teachers, volunteers, preschool professionals, pupil referral unit staff and young people, youth offenders and the general public.

Previously worked as the as Head of Education and Community for The Wildlife Trust BCN and as the People and Wildlife Manager for the Essex Wildlife Trust supporting large staff teams at Visitor Centre’s delivering education and engagement sessions to tens of thousands of children, young people and adults alongside welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. 

With a Master’s degree in Environmental Management for Conservation and Recreation and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology.
